Abstract
Prototype experiments were carried out to quantify when personnel on top of a promenade breakwater will lose their balance due to overtopping waves. The danger of being carried out into the sea was also investigated using model experiments. Based on our results, we developed an empirical formula for calculating the wave height at which personnel danger occurs. Keywords
