Abstract
Neutron diffraction results are presented for a series of alloys of transition elements as an investigation of their magnetic structure. Ferromagnetic disorder scattering has been found for alloys in the disordered state and magnetic superstructure scattering is observed for ordered alloys. Such magnetic scattering when combined with magnetization data offers information on the individual atomic magnetic moments present in the alloy. In general the atomic magnetic moments deviate from their pure elemental values as a function of alloy composition. Scattering data and magnetic moment information are given for members of the Fe-Cr, Ni-Fe, Co-Cr, and Ni-Mn series of alloys. Keywords
