Effect of Lithospermum ruderale on the Gonadotropic Potency of the Pituitary Gland.

Abstract
L. ruderale decreased the gonadotropic potency of the pituitary glands of mice. This was shown by injecting intramusc, into normal 21-day-old female mice, the pituitary glands from treated and control animals and weighing the sex organs 5 days later. The wt. of the uterus plus vagina of uninfected controls was 13.5 mg., that of mice receiving Lithospermum-treated pituitaries 14.6 mg. and that of mice receiving control pituitaries 26.2 mg.
