The biosynthesis of l-cystine and l-methionine labelled with radioactive sulphur (35S)

Abstract
A simple biosynthetic method is described for preparing L-cystine and L-methionine labelled with S35. Baker''s yeast was grown in a synthetic medium containing labelled sulfate ions, and the amino acids were isolated from the yeast proteins. The amino acids isolated had high specific activities. No impurities, either inactive or radioactive, were detected in the isolated products.
