Abstract
A higher concentra-tion of cystathionine occurs in the white matter, than in the grey matter, which is opposite to the distribution of amino butyric acid [GABA]. A lower content of vitamin B6 in the white matter than in the grey matter could explain the high concentration of cystathionine and the low concentration of GABA in the white matter, as the enzymes responsible for the breakdown of cystathionine and the synthesis of GABA are.both dependent upon the concentration of vitamin B6.
