Abstract
Single crystals of CdCr2Se4 were grown for the first time. Individual pills of CdSe and CrCl3, in close contact, were heated around 700°C for three days. Perfect octahedra up to 2 mm in size grew in the CdSe pill by liquid transport. Formation of CdCr2Se4 occurred only in the presence of platinum. The technique and its reactions are described in detail. Keywords
