Abstract
Despite a host of high-profile viruses crippling computer systems, and the realization that cross-border corruption is being planned over the Internet, cybercrimes are still seen by many as merely the pranks of ‘geeks’ with no serious implications. However, the signing of an international treaty in November 2001 by 30 governments worldwide was a major step forward in raising awareness about cybercrime.
