Abstract
This paper reports a 5-year study of 328 strains of 20 spp. of common sporulating anaerobes. Cultivation and identification are accomplished chiefly in semisolid mediums which eliminate all of the customary tedious anaerobic technic. Formulas of mediums are given, and the procedures and interpretations of results are discussed. The reactions, and morphologic observations, are tabulated in a "Tentative Key" which is susceptible to expansion as further species are studied. Numerous other species are under present study, and this report will be extended in later publications.
