The metabolism of oxalic acid in the animal body

Abstract
The oxalic acid content of whole blood (method described) was 0.4-0.6 mg. per 100 ml. Surviving tissue slices in saline or serum with or without added oxalate did not destroy or form oxalic acid. At pH 7.0 or higher a suspension of feces in nutrient saline soln. containing glucose, peptone, and oxalate destroyed oxalate on incubation at 37[degree], under aerobic or anaerobic conditions. The action is probably due to a non-sporing organism. At pH 2.4 similar inoculation with somewhat longer incubation produced oxalic acid.
