Abstract
Nitrosamines markedly increase concentrations of guanosine 3', 5' - monophosphate (cyclic GMP) in several tissues from the rat and in human colonic mucosa. These agents are effective in the absence of extracellular calcium and enhance guanylate cyclase activity in tissue homogenates. Stimulation of cyclic GMP was greatest in liver, where the carcinogenic activity of nitrosamines is also most pronounced. This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
