Abstract
A two-stage procedure utilizing incomplete measurements to assess the location and extent of structural damage is presented. In the first stage, candidate damaged elements are identified using the residual force method. Based on a priori knowledge from the first stage, the damage extent is determined from candidate elements using a proposed optimization scheme based on the method of simulated evolution. Keywords
