Abstract
The infra‐red absorption spectra from 2 to 15μ are given for n‐butane, isobutane, n‐pentane, isopentane, and neopentane. Vibrational assignments for these molecules and for propane are deduced. The band positions correlatable with particular types of vibration of various hydrocarbon groupings are discussed. Keywords
