On the controllability of hybrid control systems

Abstract
It is shown how existing discrete event system (DES) methods can be used to design controllers for hybrid control systems. Specifically, the authors concentrate on the notions of controllability and of the supremal controllable sublanguage, developed by Ramadge and Wonham (1989), and extend those notions to analyze hybrid control control systems using models developed by the authors. Using this notion of controllability, the authors are able to extend DES controller design methods and to design controllers for hybrid control systems.
