Adaptive Changes in Rats Exposed to Cold. Caloric Exchange

Abstract
The time course of metabolic changes in rats during acclimatization to air of 5[degree] C was followed by direct and indirect calorimetric measurements made at intervals during the exposure to cold air. Heat production increased gradually during the first 2 or 3 wks. exposure, the greatest increase occurring during the first 5 days. Food consumption of such animals showed a corresponding increase.
