In Vivo Evidence for Albumin Biosynthesis in Rat Liver Ribosomes

Abstract
Liver of rats given intraperitoneal injection of algal C14-amino acids was subjected to subcellular fractionation. Incorporation of C14-amino acids into albumin was maximal in 5 minutes in ribosomes and in 30 minutes in microsomes. The supernatant fraction showed a lag of 5 minutes and the serum albumin a lag of 30 minutes. Ribosomal albumin was identical with serum albumin in electrophoretic and immunological properties.
