Utilization of the Internet for Rapid Community Intensity Maps

Abstract
The most common information available immediately following a damaging earthquake is its magnitude and the epicentral location. However, it is also desirable to know the extent of the felt area, and, more important, the range of shaking experienced and the areal extent of strongest shaking. For most of the United States, there is insufficient seismic strong-motion station coverage to portray quickly and accurately the extent of strong shaking.
