Phase diagram of LixMo6Se8 for 0 from in situ x-ray studies

Abstract

The intercalated Li in ${\mathrm{Li}}_{\mathrm{x}}$ ${\mathrm{Mo}}_6$ ${\mathrm{Se}}_8$ separates into regions of high and low concentration below a critical temperature $T_c$=267 K. The phase diagram agrees with a mean-field solution to a lattice-gas model of intercalation in ${\mathrm{Li}}_{\mathrm{x}}$ ${\mathrm{Mo}}_6$ ${\mathrm{Se}}_8$. The implications of this agreement are considered.
