Abstract
Experiments are presented which demonstrate the in vivo conversion of estradiol-17[beta] to estrone and estradiol-17[alpha] in the bovine species. Correcting for losses inherent in the methods used, the total increase in urinary estrogens following the injection of estradiol-17[beta] were calculated to be about 55% of the dose administered to the male calf and about 45% of the dose administered to the female calf. Some implications of these findings and specific references to other species are discussed. Keywords
