Abstract
The term "cyclophorase" has been applied to the functional or enzymatic activities exhibited by the constituent enzymes of the metochondria. The cyclophorase-mitochondrial system catalyzed (1) the complete oxidation of members of the citric acid cycle, (2) the complete oxidation of fatty acids and certain amino acids, (3) oxidative phosphorylation, and (4) various synthetic functions, e. g., the synthesis of hippuric acid and citrulline. The present paper was concerned with some basic properties of the specific enzymes which catalyzed the above listed reactions. Keywords
