Relative thermometer for neutral clusters produced in laser-vaporization sources

Abstract
Rare-gas attachment to neutral clusters produced in a laser-vaporization source has been used to determine relative temperature differences of the aggregates. By this method it is found how the temperature of iron clusters depends on the dwell time in the source and the final cluster speeds in the molecular beam. Thus the trend of the magnetic moments of iron clusters with temperature has been verified.
