A Theoretical Method for the Analysis of Metal-Working Problems

Abstract
Theoretical and experimental flow fields of several extrusion ratios of lead extruded in plane strain are compared. The two methods given were derived from the equations describing the mechanics of the process. The differential equation in the flow function was used to obtain the flow lines. Excellent agreement was found when both the flow lines and the velocity components were compared with those obtained experimentally. The experimental and theoretical solutions which were obtained are both unique and complete.
