Abstract
The van der Waals molecules HgNe, HgAr, and HgKr were prepared in a supersonic jet. The fluorescence excitation spectra of A 30+–X 10+ and B 31–X 10+ optical transitions for these molecules which arise from the Hg 3P1–1S0 atomic transition were analyzed and the spectroscopic constants were determined from these analyses. The potential curves were constructed by assuming a Morse function. These results were compared with the results of Rydberg–Klein–Rees calculations of the well width vs well depth. Keywords
