Abstract
The selection of an optimal urban public transport system is prepared by a feeding-back planning process based on systems analysis. The decision situations are presented graphically, they define a plausible area of value judgements and insert into the figure indifference lines for each pair of alternative systems. The scheduling problem is handled by applying utility profile theory and zero–one optimization technique. By means of a particular formulation of variables and constraints, horizontal and vertical interdependencies between investment alternatives can be integrated.
