Abstract
Impure plant leaf protein was hydrolyzed by 10 ml. of 6.08 N-HCl/g. in 75 hrs. as detd. by max. net production of amide-NH3 plus amino-acid "amino" groups. Organic acids arising from decomposition of impurity and by deamina-tion of amino-acids were removed by prolonged extraction of hydrolysate with ether.
