Abstract
By chromatographic adsorption it is shown that there are 4 carotenoids in the fruits of Gono-caryum obovatum and G. pyriforme, lycopin, [alpha]- and [beta]-carotin, and a new carotenoid which exhibits vitamin A activity and has a composition probably intermediate between lycopin and carotin (one end of the molecule aliphatic, the other cyclic). 18 [gamma] per day leads to normal growth in the rat.This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
