Genistelloides hibernus: A New Trichomycete from a Winter-Emerging Stonefly

Abstract
GENISTELLOIDES hibernus gen. et sp. nov. is described as a new taxon of Trichomycetes (Harpellales, Legeriomycetaceae) discovered in the hindgut of A. vivpara (Plecoptera) nymphs from northeastern Kansas [USA] It was cultured axenically, the 2nd genus of Harpellales whose members were isolated. The trichospores resemble those of Legeriomyces spp., whereas the zygospore type is characteristic of members of other genera. The generic concepts within the order are discussed.
