Traffic analysis for different classes of users of land mobile communication systems

Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of different traffic parameters that are related to the efficiency of utilization of terrestrial mobile radio channels. It is based on actual voice traffic recordings performed in several canadian cities, and concerns four classes of users: Police, taxi, trucking, repair and maintenance. Statistical analysis results for each of these classes of users allow categorization of their respective channel utilization characteristics and efficiency. This work has been performed under contract with the Department of Communications of Canada.
