Abstract
To the Editor: The possible teratogenic side effects of Bendectin have received much attention. Although the drug has been removed from the market, most epidemiologic evidence does not support an association of birth defects with maternal use of Bendectin.1 In the past 12 months, however, we have identified three children with unilateral lung hypoplasia whose mothers had taken Bendectin during the first trimester of pregnancy.Case 1, a 15-month-old white boy, was referred with a three-month history of persistent upper respiratory infections.
