The Role of Fresh Cow's Milk in Iron Deficiency

Abstract
Compared with feeding a prepared formula for 12 months, introducing fresh cow's milk into the infant's diet at 2 months of age is associated with a significant degree of microcytosis, ferropenia, and minimal anemia in a group of infants having the same iron intake. This study suggests that factors in the diet other than the amount of iron are important in the etiology of iron deficiency.
