STRUCTURAL DIFFERENCES AMONG ANTIBODIES OF DIFFERENT SPECIFICITIES

Abstract
Specifically isolated guinea pig antibodies that were reduced and alkylated, and then subjected to starch gel electrophoresis to separate their subunits yielded distinct and reproducible patterns that differed for antibodies of different specificities. Antihapten antibodies from different animals possessed similar electrophoretic patterns. The patterns of reduced alkylated whole gamma-globulins, although similar, showed diffuse zones rather than sharp bands.
