Gamma Decay of the LowestT=32State ofN13

Abstract
γ-ray transitions are observed in the reaction C12(p, γ)N13 from the sharp T=32 resonance at Ex=15.07 MeV in N13 to the ground state and to higher excited states. For the ground-state transition, ΓpΓγΓ=5.5±0.8 eV. The angular distribution of this transition confirms Jπ=32 for the T=32 state and gives an amplitude ratio of E2M1=0.095±0.07, in agreement with theory in sign and magnitude. The widths for decay to the ground and excited states are compared with shell-model predictions, and with the analog β transitions in the decay of B13.
