Abstract
Rabbit gamma-globulin was fractionated by partition chromatography using the 2 liquid phases produced by a mixture of potassium phosphate, water and ethyl and butyl cellosolves, with Celite 545 used to hold the stationary phase. gamma-Globulin from normal rabbits appeared to be a complex mixture of very similar components, none of which could be isolated individually. Immune gamma-globulin could be fractionated to give a partial separation of inert globulin from antibody. One type of anti-ovalbumin appeared to be formed in the earlier stages of immunization, to be largely replaced by a chromatographically distinct 2d type as immunization continued.
