Abstract
The identification, placement, and treatment of emotionally disturbed (ED) students is problematic for many school psychologists. This article discusses these difficulties based upon the professional experiences of two school psychologists in a rural school district. The obstacles to the provision of psychological services to ED cases, the related ethical concerns and issues, and some recommendations concerning programmatic and institutional changes appropriate for rural settings are addressed.Keywords
