Abstract
Postviral syndrome has recently become more accepted as a clinical entity. This paper discusses the course of 13 patients following return to work. They are all very active people, mostly in late 20s and early 30s. The reported excess of cases in women is not supported. The treatment is total rest in the early stages, followed by a gradual build-up in the hours and type of work. The recovery rates are very slow and gradual. There is a great need to educate sufferers and management about the condition. Rehabilitation can only start if the diagnosis is made, and the diagnosis can only be made if it is considered during the consultation.
