Abstract
SCATTERED reports of an outbreak of cutaneous porphyria in Turkey have been received recently. In the course of a short visit to that country in January, 1960, an attempt was made to gather all available information and to supplement it with some personal observations and investigations.Since the summer of 1956 a great number of cases of cutaneous porphyria have appeared in the Turkish provinces of Diyarbakir, Mardin and Urfa. A few isolated cases had already been observed in Urfa in 1955, but before that date, porphyria had not been noted in Turkey. The syndrome consists of blistering and epidermolysis . . .
