Abstract
A computer-based method is described for generating a homogeneous assembly of randomly close-packed spheres of packing density 0.606. The pair distribution function of this assembly is very similar to that of an unshaken pile of ballbearings and does not show the splitting of the second peak that is observed in shaken stacks of ballbearings. The average number of contacts of the spheres in the computed assembly is 6.0.Keywords
