Untersuchungen über den Fettstoffwechsel. VI. Versuche mitα-Lauro-β,γ-diundecylin.

Abstract
Continuing former experiments on the w-oxidation of fatty acids 2 of the authors ate 36 gm. of the synthetic fat [alpha]-lauro-[beta],[gamma]-diundecylin. 0.47 and 0.27 gm. undecandicarbonic acid could be isolated from the urine, proving the [omega]-oxidation of the undecylic acid alone in the mixed glyceride. "In vitro" expts., testing the velocity of saponification of the above mentioned glyceride and a mixture of trilaurin and triundecylin in a molecular relation 1:2 in weak alkaline and acid solution, showed no difference of these substances. Therefore the authors believe that in the intestinal tract the 3 glycerides might be saponified with the same speed.
