Mosquito Collections at Army Installations in the Fourth Service Command, 1943

Abstract
At the instance of the Fourth Service Command, U. S. Army, mosquito collections were made in the 7 states included in the command area. Collections were made at weekly intervals throughout the year of adults at resting stations, in light traps, and feeding on the collector''s arm, and of larvae. At 8 stations in Tennessee, 11,256 adults and 7,726 larvae comprising 8 genera and 33 spp. were taken. The N. Carolina collections at 9 stations contained 48,425 adults and 15,686 larvae. Ten genera and 49 spp. were included. The collections from the 13 stations in S. Carolina contained 36,937 adults and 6,503 larvae. Ten genera and 50 spp. were recorded. At 18 stations in Georgia, 52,565 adults and 21,784 larvae from 9 genera and 48 spp. were listed. Records from 13 stations in Alabama consisted of 24,000 adults and 19,282 larvae belonging to 8 genera and 45 spp. The 16 stations in Mississippi yielded 76,743 adults and 34,176 larvae from 9 genera and 49 spp. In Florida 311,329 adults and 36,407 larvae from 11 genera and 50 spp. were taken at 48 stations.
