Abstract
ROUTINE oral cholecystography consists of one-day application of 3 g (6 tablets) of iopanoic acid.* Twenty-five to 30 per cent of these patients, however, require another dose of 3 g of contrast medium on the following day because of poor or no visualization of the gallbladder. The rationale for repeat study is based on well documented clinical observations. Two out of three patients with inadequate opacification on the first day will show adequate opacification on the second day.1 2 3 Important economic considerations are apparent, if it is realized that about two million patients undergo oral cholecystography in the United States each . . .Keywords
