Abstract
Tests were caried out with female rats 4-13 months old. The non-pregnant animals were compared with pregnant animals of the same age, both during and after pregnancy. The thermal contraction of collagen fiber s in the caudal tendons displays during pregnancy variations which point to an enhanced rate of collagen ageing. Thetension, measured by the weight which inhibits the contraction, increases, too, and so does the weight which results in the breaking of the fiber. These changes recorded during pregnancy are reversible to a certain extent.
