Contributions to the Study of Brain Metabolism. IV

Abstract
The brains of normal and depancreatized cats show a resting lactic acid value corresponding to the level of the blood sugar at the time of death. Brain glycogen is stable, and other lactic acid precursors seemingly are absent. The diabetic brain tissue is able to convert added glucose to lactic acid, and conversely to remove lactic acid under aerobic conditions, like the normal brain tissue.
