Abstract
Details are given for the application of the Van der Meulen reaction[long dash]the oxidation of bromide to bromate by hypochlorite[long dash]to the detn. of bromide in blood, cerebrospinal fluid and urine. The method is not affected by the presence of chloride in moderate concn., but iodide reacts quantitatively like bromide. This semi-micromethod is well adapted to the detn. of bromide in body fluids following bromide admn. The accuracy is about [plus or minus] 1% for samples containing 50 [mu]g. bromide in 0.5 ml. fluid.
