Photoluminescence and Photoconduction in the System (CdIn2S4)1-x-(In2S3)x

Abstract
Emission spectra of photoluminescence in mixed crystals of CdIn2S4 and In2S3 were studied at liquid N2 temperature. The emission spectra decomposed into four main emission bands, the peak energies of which were about 1.80 eV, 1.60 eV, 1.45 eV, and 1.35 eV for CdIn2S4 and accompanied with a shift to a lower photon energy with an increase of In2S3 content. Photoconductivity and excitation spectra in the alloy system were also measured at liquid N2 temperature. A model for the mechanism of the emission of CdIn2S4 for the two emission bands in the higher energy side is proposed from these experimental results.
