Endoscopic Urethrotomy: Does it Live Up to its Promises?

Abstract
Endoscopic cold knife urethrotomy was done on 160 patients with urethral strictures. Of these patients 120 were followed for 6 mo.-2 yr. The initially good results (56% cured at 6 mo.) do not stand the test of time since only 25% of the patients can be considered cured after 2 yr. Despite these less than triumphant results, endoscopic urethrotomy, which is performed easily and uncompromising to secondary urethroplasty, should be tried as a primary procedure.
