To obtain opinion regarding adequacy of recent graduate training in neurology for private practice, to obtain information on types of patients seen, and to gather estimates of how programs might be better structured to prepare for private practice, a questionnaire was sent to 150 neurologists entering practice in the last ten years. Tabulation of answers shows that a majority of the 80 respondents believe that training programs need improvement in rehabilitation, child neurology, management of anxiety states, and metabolic and endocrine disorders. Respondents who recorded suggestions emphasized the importance of internal medicine as a necessary part of training and considered an apprenticeship helpful in prepractice education to provide experience in economics and interprofessional relationships. No precise conclusions could be drawn, but the information obtained supplied pertinent suggestions for those responsible for training experience 24:165-168, 1971.
