Detection of Antibody to a New Antigen Induced by Epstein-Barr Virus in Serums from Patients with Malignant Lymphoid Diseases

Abstract
Infection of NC-37 cells with EB virus prepared from P3HR-1 cells formed a new antigen distinct from EB virionantigen. Antibody to the antigen was detected in the serums from the patients with not only Burkitt lymphoma or nasopharyngeal carcinoma but also with more general malignant lymphoid diseases. Analogy of the new antigen to T antigen induced by known animal oncogenic viruses and significance of detection of the antibody to the new antigen were discussed.
