Abstract
A linear-combination-of-Gaussian-orbitals band calculation is performed to determine the Fermi surface of paramagnetic chromium. This Fermi surface is compared with experimentally determined dimensions including those of antiferromagnetic chromium. By introducing a spin density wave it is possible to modify this band structure in a way which is consistent with both optical data and Fermi surface data from the low temperature antiferromagnetic structure of chromium. Keywords
