Triage Nurse in the Emergency Department

Abstract

If triage works in disaster conditions, why not in an emergency department? Conditions there can be disastrous, too, as increasing numbers of patients use emergency departments as a source of primary care. A nurse to receive these patients, evaluate the kind of care they need, and refer them accordingly has worked out very well in the hospital where this triage system was instituted.
