Abstract
The reactions π++dp+p have been investigated in weak-coupling approximation. Using detailed balancing arguments it is shown that comparison of the total cross sections for both processes at appropriate energies allows a unique determination of the spin of the charged π-meson independent of weak coupling theory. It is also shown that the angular distributions of the final state particles and the energy variation of the total cross sections also provide information as to the charged π-meson spin.
