Dynamic Buckling of Shallow Shells under Impulsive Loading

Abstract
Minimum impulse necessary for dynamic snap buckling determined by examining unstable equilibrium states in nonlinear range; analysis based on assumptions of elastic behavior, large displacements, and axially symmetrical deformations; by assumption, deformation is represented by simple deflection function such that shell can be treated as one-degree-of-freedom system; results presented for snap-buckling impulse as function of geometry for various boundary conditions.
